Deep ruby coloured with violet hints and great aromatic complexity. Outstanding black and red fruit notes combined with balsamic, resin and even a touch of mocha and tobacco, resulting from its ageing in barrels. In the mouth it is dense with firm tannins and a lively acidity adding freshness and longevity.

Quinta do Cardo Grande Escolha
Red
From the selection of the best grapes of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, grown at 700 meters altitude and ageing for 20 months in new French oak barrels, this wine shows intense dark color, great structure and aromatic complexity. Production: 6,470 bottles.
After de-stemming and soft crushing, the Touriga Nacional grapes have endured a five day cold maceration and two daily "delestage" during the first 6 fermentation days. Meanwhile, Tinta Roriz made a single daily "delestage", and reassembly with aeration. The final fermentation took place in French oak new barrels, where malolactic fermentation later occurred. After 20 months ageing, the best barrels, from each batch, were selected for the final blend of this “Grande Escolha”. This wine was launched in November 2014.
